Weekend Getaway Brasstown Mountain
The Brasstown Mountain Resort, about 3 hours north of Atlanta is great weekend getaway. The resort has both cottages and rooms in a hotel on site. Views of the surrounding golf course and mountains, makes this resort a beautiful rustic getaway without sacrificing some of the comforts of home. The resort has wireless internet connections, a pool and a hot tub. Meals are served in the hotel’s retaurant or a small pub, also in the hotel.
Some good service
This review is based on complimentary accommodations received from Brasstown Valley. I would like to thank Cassy at the front desk who was so gracious as to help me prepare my hotel room for a birthday surprise for a friend. I also would like to thank Sid, the executive chef, who prepared a delicious meal of steak and eggs for breakfast and made sure that his dining guests were comfortable during dinner as well as breakfast. It is special touches like that, which made the stay special.
But an improvement is needed
Checkout is at noon, and if the hotel is full, as it was when I visited, you need to make sure that you are ready to go by the checkout time. I had been told that I could check out late, but a front desk associate still knocked at my door at 12:30 p.m. I tried to explain that not only did I have approval from the manager, but I had also called to confirm earlier that morning that I would be staying late. I honestly felt that the late check out wasn’t being honored and I felt compelled to leave, and forgot all about the 2 p.m. horseback riding appointment that I’d made.
Just before I left, a worker came out to my car with two green apples to munch on the road back to Atlanta. That was sweet, but I was sad to go so early.
Brasstown Valley resort is located at 6321 US Highway 78 in Young Harris.
