Apparently, Delta is planning to outsource the skycap service to a third party company, eliminating skycap jobs (the existing workers can continue on with the new company or get another job within Delta). This entire affair means that travelers who use curbside check-in with Delta in Atlanta will likely have to pay a set fee per bag instead of merely tipping. It appears that travelers will be expected to pay a fee per bag and tip on top of that. Yes. You are probably going to end up paying more money to travel with Delta. That’s an incentive to travel light and take your bags inside! I only wonder what the skycaps are going to end up earning salarywise if they go on to the new company? They are likely to get less money in tips since people are paying a set fee per bag for the service, too. What do you think about all of this?

Post from: The Atlanta Traveler
