Stone Mountain Park

While visiting Mexico, I ended up in a conversation with a Mexican man who had visited Atlanta. I asked him about his favorite Atlanta destination, and he told me that he loved Stone Mountain Park. I love Stone Mountain, too and I decided to share some of my favorite images from the park.

The Gone with the Wind Museum
The Gone With the Wind Museum located in Marietta, Georgia is an interesting place to visit even if you are not a Gone With the Wind fan. The museum boasts dozens of original books, movie artifacts, and signed letters from Margaret Mitchell and the cast of Gone With the Wind. Visiting the museum with your children is good opportunity for a history lesson on the Civil War. First, watch the movie, making sure to explain to young children that the characters in the movie are fiction, yet the Civil War occurred. You can also research the Civil War before your …read more

Hated the Date, Loved the Brasstown Valley Resort
I can’t stand grumpy men! My date for an otherwise pleasant weekend get-away at the Brasstown Valley Resort got on my last nerve. He didn’t like the cold. I thought that it was a pleasantly nippy winter. He hoped it didn’t snow. ”Let it snow,” I sighed.
Thank goodness that I had the common sense to bring a good book. Thank goodness that the Brasstown Valley Resort was so beautiful, that even a whiny, high maintenance, complaining date couldn’t spoil my vacation. So, Brasstown Valley earns a thumbs up from me. Singles can relax and unwind. Couples, I imagine, can snuggle near the gigantic fireplace in …read more

Delta May Charge a Baggage fee for Curbside Check-In
Delta at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta may charge around $2 per bag for people who decide to check in at the curb rather than checking in inside the airport, according to an article by the AJC.com. Currently there is no fee for this Delta service in Atlanta; travelers are expected to tip skycap personnel. Apparently, Delta is planning to outsource the skycap service to a third party company, eliminating skycap jobs (the existing workers can continue on with the new company or get another job within Delta). This entire affair means that travelers who use curbside check-in with Delta in Atlanta will likely have to …read more

Shanghai, here we come!!!
Delta Air Lines, Atlanta’s own airline, finally acquired approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation to offer non-stop flights between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Shanghai, China beginning March 30, 2008. The petition was filed in January earlier this year. Previous applications were also filed in 2000 and 2005 but were denied.
Delta’s application was heavily supported by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue who said,:
“Investors, businesses, CEOs and those board members like to be close to where the investment is,” he said.
For the state’s coastal area, strengthening business ties with Chinese companies could lead to more activity at the …read more
