Neighbor’s Restaurant

When looking for a cool place with plenty of outdoor seating in midtown, headed over to Neighbor’s  at 752 North Highland Ave.  This pub has a cute lighted patio for a romantic meal. If you decide that it’s a little chilly outside but you still want to brave the weather, the pub has outdoor heating. Neighbor’s also has good food. I tried the Jerk Chicken wrap with mixed vegetables. I was afraid to order the dish because spicy foods make my eyes water and upsets my sinuses. My server was kind enough to bring extra napkins, although the jerk chicken …read more

Beauty and Lunch in Buckhead

Beauty and Lunch in Buckhead

Nseya Salon and Spa moved last month to its new location on Piedmont in Buckhead. Today the place was was bustling with activity. Hair stylists rushed around, dressed in all black, and it appeared as though everyone was preparing for a Hotlanta weekend. It’s a good thing that the new location has a nearby parking deck, and that Nseya validates parking. It’s also a good thing that Copeland’s New Orleans-style restaurant is literally adjacent to Nseya. Get your hair done. Treat yourself to spa services, and have lunch or dinner at Copeland’s.
Speaking of lunch at Copeland’s, I had the catfish, …read more

A Few Notable Atlanta Restaurants

A Few Notable Atlanta Restaurants

For a long time Ray’s on the River  6700 Power Ferry Road was my favorite restaurant. I liked the lush views of the river and the live music (typically, a pianist). The ambiance is more memorable than the food, but I recall that the food was tasty.  The restaurant was refurbashed last year, and I hear that it’s even better than I remember.
Note: The website was not working properly when I wrote this. Call Ray’s at     770-955-1187
A reader chimed in that Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse has absolutely the best steak. Whenever someone mentions steak in Atlanta, someone usually gives Ruth Chris’ …read more

Breakfast around the north

Breakfast around the north

I love breakfast. I love breakfast so much that I can eat it at every meal of the day. North of the GA-400, there are many notable places to eat breakfast or brunch. Two of these are J Christopher’s and Alpha Soda.
The first one is J Christopher’s which didn’t use to be a chain but now is. Its first location was on Haynes Bridge Rd in Alpharetta. People come in droves despite its consistent lack of good (or even acceptable) service. Breakfast here is so time consuming that a typical one lasts close to two …read more
