King Tut is coming to Atlanta

"Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs," the second National Geographic exhibition dedicated to the remarkable treasures of King Tutankhamun and ancient Egyptian royalty, was announced on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University in Atlanta. The King Tut exhibition, which includes more than 130 objects from King Tut's tomb and other royal contemporaries, is organized by National Geographic, Arts and Exhibitions International and AEG Exhibitions, with cooperation from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities and presented by Northern Trust. The premiere at the Atlanta Civic Center and will be presented by the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University from November 15, 2008 to May 22, 2009, followed by an engagement at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum from June to October 2009. Carlos Museum of Emory University An exhibit featuring King Tut is coming to Atlanta, according to an announcement made this morning during a press conference Mayor Shirley Franklin. The exhibit features 130 treasures from King Tutankhamun’s tomb and other treasures.  Although there have been previous King Tut exhibits in the United States, this exhibit features items not seen before in earlier exhibits.

The exhibit will premiere at the Atlanta Civic Center, and will be presented by the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University from November 15, 2008 to May 22, 2009. The National Geographic, Arts and Exhibitions International and AEG Exhibitions. The exhibit is entitled Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs.

    I saw (and wrote about) the Tut exhibit which came to Philly last year.

    It’s a “don”t miss” exhibit. The last time it came through the U.S. was about 30 years ago.
