Maxim Prime Restaurant Has Opened

Maxim Prime Restaurant Has Opened

Maxim Prime, a 150-seat posh steakhouse opened Friday at 110 Marietta Street (inside the Glenn Hotel).  The restaurant is a partnership between Maxim Magazine and Jeffery Chodorow. Selections at the restaurant include mini combination dishes, served in trios, a la carte dishes and light meals. If you want a delectable steak, Maxim Prime is place to go. The filet mignon is simply heavenly. Try a 10 ounce steak;  it’s thick, juicy,  tender, and buttery soft. That’s saying a lot from someone like me who has practically sworn off beef. I couldn’t resist that steak, and devoured the entire thing. …read more

Tyler Perry’s The Marriage Counselor Comes to the ATL

Tyler Perry’s The Marriage Counselor Comes to the ATL

A new Tyler Perry play, the Marriage Counselor will be performed at the Fabulous Fox Theater, April 17-20! Get your tickets on Tyler’s site.  I do need to warn you that if you are a Tyler Perry fan, you won’t see him in this one. Tyler will not perform in the play. So what’s this one about? From what I can gather from Tyler’s site, the play is about a marriage counselor who discusses the relationships of several couples. So, I figure that as she is talking, we see the character’s performing the story, or something like that.  Of course, …read more

Traffic Nightmare is Averted

Traffic Nightmare is Averted

For now, we don’t have to worry about traffic delays due to 10th Street road improvements this weekend. So, I think that it will be o.k. to venture out into downtown Atlanta over the next couple of days. The Department of Transportation decided to postpone the project until next weekend due to anticipated showers in the area. To be honest, I rather have the rain than be caught in traffic in downtown Atlanta. The roads in the area reportedly have not been paved for more than 12 years. The work had been scheduled to begin tonight with three northbound lanes …read more

Man Killed in the Rubble

Man Killed in the Rubble

At least one person, a man was killed in the tornado on March 15. A man’s body was found in the rubble in downtown Atlanta on Saturday, according to a report from the Atlanta Journal Constitution online. It is not known at this time whether the man was homeless or not, since there had been no missing person’s report. I recall reading that the man’s body was found under some bricks, so it is likely that a building had collapsed while he was standing or running near it.
How they Discovered the Body
During the clean up, someone saw the man’s …read more

A Look at Friday Night at the High

A Look at Friday Night at the High

Dozens of people came out to the High Museum to chill and listen to jazz music during Friday Night Jazz at the High. Some patrons sat on the lower floor of the atrium, listening to the Friday night jazz performers while other people walked upstairs to view the art in the gallery. There was a mellow, laid-back atmosphere at the museum, as couples cuddled and friends bantered. The performance, itself was upbeat, and a few people danced. The dancers may have been friends of the museum; they danced like experts. I didn’t catch a glimpse of the food, but …read more

Imagine being high up on a giant mountain. The air is nippy, but you don’t mind the chill. A huge wooden cross is there to remind you while you are there.  Then you see the glow of the sun rising and pouring color into the sky like orange lava. All is well. That’s Easter in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Easter sunrise service at Stone Mountain National Park is a tradition. The park gates open at 4 a.m., and two non-denominational services, one at the top of the mountain, the other at the base of the mountain will begin simultaneously at …read more
