Marietta, Where it’s Better

Marietta, Where it’s Better

Marietta, where it’s better? Anyway, that’s what folk who live in Marietta, Ga. say.
Marietta is considered part of the Atlanta metro area. I didn’t know that when I first considered moving to Atlanta. A friend of mine had been bragging about Atlanta for months, and I decided to move to the area too. Well, she gave me the directions, and I found out that she actually lived in Marietta, not Atlanta. I felt short changed! Then I learned the hard way that the 120 loop is actually a loop. And it is possible to drive around and around that loop for an …read more

Beauty and Lunch in Buckhead

Beauty and Lunch in Buckhead

Nseya Salon and Spa moved last month to its new location on Piedmont in Buckhead. Today the place was was bustling with activity. Hair stylists rushed around, dressed in all black, and it appeared as though everyone was preparing for a Hotlanta weekend. It’s a good thing that the new location has a nearby parking deck, and that Nseya validates parking. It’s also a good thing that Copeland’s New Orleans-style restaurant is literally adjacent to Nseya. Get your hair done. Treat yourself to spa services, and have lunch or dinner at Copeland’s.
Speaking of lunch at Copeland’s, I had the catfish, …read more

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

You can say it with flowers, candy, or a romantic dinner for two. There are probably about a million ways to show someone your love.  I like jazz, and would appreciate listening to some mellow jazz while enjoying a romantic candle-lit dinner. I also love horse-drawn carriages, but not in 20 degree weather! So tell me, where do you think are the most romantic places in Atlanta?

Dog Sitters in Atlanta

Dog Sitters in Atlanta

Running errands or traveling with a pet in tow can be inconvenient, especially if you live in Atlanta and have to go out of town, are the city visiting or are new to the city. Luckily, I came across a helpful pet sitting company which serves the city of Atlanta and the following counties: Cobb, Cherokee, Clayton, Dekalb, Fulton and Gwinnett.
Pet sitters check in on pets in a home or maybe a hotel room if you ask. The service includes walking your pet, scooping litter boxes, administering medication,  and other services to keep your household running.
Fees are $17 per pet per …read more

The Universoul Circus is Coming to Atlanta

The Universoul Circus is Coming to Atlanta

Put a little soul in your life! The hippest,  hip hop circus around, the Universoul Circus, is coming to town.  Hmmm, wait a minute. It may be the only hip hop circus. Oh, well. Anyway, it doesn’t matter. It’s a show worth seeing. This season, the Universoul Circus presents Jabulani: Joy, Laughter and Happiness. The show features multicultural acts from Europe, China,  Russia, Africa and Brazil who will proceed to get down to some funk, gospel, hip hop and R&B.  The Universooooouuuuul (you have to draw out the soul part, when you say the name) Circus is hip hop under the …read more

A Few Notable Atlanta Restaurants

A Few Notable Atlanta Restaurants

For a long time Ray’s on the River  6700 Power Ferry Road was my favorite restaurant. I liked the lush views of the river and the live music (typically, a pianist). The ambiance is more memorable than the food, but I recall that the food was tasty.  The restaurant was refurbashed last year, and I hear that it’s even better than I remember.
Note: The website was not working properly when I wrote this. Call Ray’s at     770-955-1187
A reader chimed in that Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse has absolutely the best steak. Whenever someone mentions steak in Atlanta, someone usually gives Ruth Chris’ …read more

A Green Getaway for Romance

A Green Getaway for Romance

A stay at the Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge is just perfect for couples who love the great outdoors. Alternatively, if you want to keep in shape, you can go hiking in the park instead of, or in addition to a gym workout. I’m terrified of heights, but even I enjoy a nice easy hike, especially if I’m with a nice strong date. In addition to jewlry, candy, lingerie, and a new car (just kidding about the car) you can give your sweetheart a park pass which includes miles of hiking trails, biking trails, beaches, and romantic views.  The annual …read more

Can You Find Romance in Atlanta?

Can You Find Romance in Atlanta?

I’m not trying to make blanket judgements, I’m really not. It is my duty as a woman and as a blogger, however to report. Read on ladies and gents, this is something else! Many of you may be visiting Atlanta for various reasons. Some of you may be moving to Atlanta. OK. No matter if you are visiting or moving, I’m talking to my single readers out there, particularly the ladies. I’ve lived in several cities in the Southeast, Miami, Tampa, Wilmington, Greensboro, and Virginia Beach to name a few, but living in Atlanta has changed my view about dating. …read more
