While visiting Mexico, I ended up in a conversation with a Mexican man who had visited Atlanta. I asked him about his favorite Atlanta destination, and he told me that he loved Stone Mountain Park. I love Stone Mountain, too and I decided to share some of my favorite images from the park.

Air Travel Changes

Air Travel Changes

I recently returned from a trip to Mexico. I admit that it has been a while since I have traveled by air, but will someone please tell me when airlines began charging passengers for food? I mean, dang, U.S. Airways tried to charge a sister $7 for a sandwich. Dang, I wanted to ask the flight attendant to just give me about 8 teeny bags of trail mix (if they are still free).  It’s a good thing that I made a pitstop to Publix before I got on the plane. I brought some food, but not nearly enough. I promise …read more

Cafe Life

Cafe Life

Café Life is a small restaurant adjacent to a co-op grocery store, Life Grocery. All of the food in the café is vegetarian, and the salad offerings are organic

The café caters to health conscience people or those who strive to be. The most unique preparations are the raw foods, which are uncooked, natural whole foods that are prepared with the pretense that cooking destroys enzymes and nutrients in dishes. Gourmet raw or living food consists of marinated vegetables, ground nuts that taste like meat and wraps created from ground flax seeds and spices. All of the raw salad dressings are …read more

The Gone with the Wind Museum

The Gone with the Wind Museum

The Gone With the Wind Museum located in Marietta, Georgia is an interesting place to visit even if you are not a Gone With the Wind fan. The museum boasts dozens of original books, movie artifacts, and signed letters from Margaret Mitchell and the cast of Gone With the Wind. Visiting the museum with your children is good opportunity for a history lesson on the Civil War. First, watch the movie, making sure to explain to young children that the characters in the movie are fiction, yet the Civil War occurred. You can also research the Civil War before your …read more

Visit the Georgia Aquarium

Visit the Georgia Aquarium

Screaming kids, walking through a viewing tunnel, pointed at an enormous whale shark gliding through clear waters. “I’m glad I came,” a young boy piped. And if you decide to visit, you’ll be glad too. The largest aquarium in the world, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Georgia Aquarium. You can easily spend all day, walking through the aquarium’s indoor exhibits (called galleries). The Georgia Coast Gallery will be a hit with your kids. Children can touch horseshoe crabs, shrimp, sting rays, and sea stars (softly with two fingers). There is also a play area; the kids …read more

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is the perfect place to take your family this summer. Located in midtown, Atlanta, this is a must-see destination. Your young children will love the kid’s area. Watch your children laugh and play with other children in a child-safe tree house. The sprinkler water-spouts are big hit with the kids, and even your little 3-year-olds can enjoy them. The water is low to the ground and comes out in a gentle trickle. There is also a huge caterpillar that children can crawl through, in addition to a dinosaur exhibit in which children dig through a sandbox …read more

The Atlantic Station

The Atlantic Station

Atlantic Station is one of the best places to take a date in Atlanta. The trees are laced with romantic lighting and there are plenty of restaurants, a movie theater and bars to spend time with loved ones.

I acutally met someone outside of the LA fitness gym and we ended up going to the movies and to the Fox Grill.  You never know who you may meet at the Atlantic Station.
