Sorry for the late notice… Callaway Gardens is having the Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival this Labor Day weekend starting this afternoon. Be warned, however, that rain is in the forecast all weekend. For those not familiar with Callaway, it is about an hour’s drive south of Atlanta in the city of Pine Mountain. There’s a beach, a butterfly museum, a lake, a marina, fishing, biking, and lots of activities. Go if you don’t mind a few showers this weekend.

There has been a lot of confusion lately as to what or where exactly is Johns Creek. Johns Creek is a newly created city established on December 1, 2006. It claimed parts of Alpharetta (North Fulton), Roswell, and Duluth (Gwinnett). Affected zip codes include 30005, 30097, 30022, 30076, and 30024. While it’s too early to tell what impact this change has created, I’ve heard residents expressing a positive outlook on things. We’ll see…

Whew, we’ve been having a very dry, very hot summer. For the past couple of weeks, temperatures have soared to the hundreds with the heat index hovering above 110°F. And no, it’s not always like this. It’s just unbearable this year. Frankly, I. Dont. Like It. All I can say is keep your cool (no pun intended) and drink lots of water.
